Have your say on proposals to change school travel policies

SCC has launched a consultation on proposals to change school and post-16 travel policies, responses are due by Wednesday 28th February 2018

This is an extremely important consultation as we currently spend £21 million per year getting children to and from school. For some time, we have been concerned about the rising costs of school travel. The council’s current school and post-16 travel policies go above what are legally required to provide but the consultation centres around providing the basic level of legally required support. Three options are proposed, (1) reduce to legal requirements, (2) as (1) but phase in over a longer time period or (3) do nothing, travel to remain supported as it is now but savings would need to be made elsewhere.
