Police are urging caravan owners and site owners to be vigilant and consider extra security after a caravan was stolen from the Wortham area on Sunday.

We have today received an email from one of our readers stating that "someone broke in to a house in Yaxley over the weekend . The house was occupied at the time, they were disturbed by a dog and left ."
The recent spate of warm weather has seen a sudden surge in the growth along the roadside verges. Two years ago Network Rail put forward a proposal to either close or alter the status of some 31 level crossing throughout Suffolk as part of its Level Crossing Reduction Strategy. Following public consultation the number of Suffolk level crossings taken forward to the Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) stage was reduced to 23. The proposals for these 23 crossings are now being considered at a public inquiry, which ends on 25 May.
Roadworks.org are currently showing that Yaxley Road, Mellis (Yaxley Manor entrance towards Thrandeston Road) will be subject to a two way traffic control from 16-30 May for telecoms work .
With effect from 27 May the 456 bus service, currently operated by Galloway, through Mellis, Thornham and Yaxley will cease.
